Speed: 16 kts Callsign: TBC Registered: Glasgow Launched by: TBC Named after: An area to the north of Brodick on the island of
Arran, which she was built to serve. Gaelic Name: N/A
REMARKS:
She was built to replace the pioneering A B C ferries which were becoming
too much of a success and were seriously struggling to keep up with the
demand on them. In June 1964 she became the first unit of the fleet to
receive the lion emblem on her funnel which is now well recognized symbol of
the modern fleet. Her length of service (32 years) set something of a record
in the modern fleet, only being surpassed by the tiny Bruernish and the
Jupiter.
