ALI CAT entered service on the Dunoon (1A) roster on Monday 21 October 2002, having arrived on the Clyde on Sunday 13 October. Before entering service, she spent several days doing berthing trials at Dunoon and Gourock. She is actually chartered from Red Funnel Line, who in turn have chartered her from her owners, Solent & Wightline Cruises.
